Getting Started Guide
Ragnavik is a private Valheim server with balanced progression and a matching mod profile. Follow these steps before joining.
1. Request access
Join the Ragnavik Discord, then DM the server owner to request approval. Include the Steam account you will use in the private message. The request to join page has the full steps. The server has a permitted list and no password. Being absent from that list does not mean you are banned, although Valheim may show the same banned message for both cases. An actual ban is tracked separately.
2. Create a clean Gale profile
Install Valheim through Steam, then install Gale. Create a new Valheim profile for Ragnavik. Do not reuse an older Ragnavik, Thunderstore Mod Manager, or r2modman profile for this rebuild. Old configuration files and retired plugins can remain after an in place update and cause mismatches that the new pack cannot safely correct.
Keep both the Hexium and Thunderstore sources enabled in Gale. Hexium is the primary source for the rebuilt pack. Gale also resolves the small set of dependencies that remain on Thunderstore, so you do not need to move or install those packages by hand.
3. Install the client pack
The rebuilt packages are still being prepared and are not live yet.

When the client package is live, install LostKode Ragnavik from Hexium in the clean Gale profile. The client package will install the matching Ragnavik Server gameplay package, Ragnavik UI, Ragnavik Compatibility, and their approved dependencies. The server package link is listed for release transparency. Players should install the client package rather than assembling the server package themselves.
Avoid adding extra client plugins unless an administrator has approved them. CatosAntiCheat checks required mods, exact versions, and unapproved additions when you connect.
4. Create a fresh character
Create a character that has never entered another world. ServerCharacters enrolls it when you join and keeps the server copy authoritative. You may create and enroll additional fresh characters for a restart or testing.
5. Join Ragnavik
Choose your new character and use the Ragnavik FastLink entry on the game menu. The shortcut displays the server name without showing the address or port in its menu. If Valheim says you are banned before approval is confirmed, ask an administrator on Discord to check the permitted list. If Catos reports a mod mismatch, send the exact message and time to Discord so we can compare it with the server logs.
Upgrading from an older pack
Treat this rebuild as a clean installation, not a normal update. Keep your old profile only as a local reference until the new profile has launched successfully. Do not copy its plugins or configuration folder into the Gale profile. Once the new package is live, install it into a new profile, launch modded, and wait for Gale to finish resolving both stores before joining.
